O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A… Oklahoma!

Coldwater, MI is a little, old town with a beautiful theater with a VERY talented staff of artists and professionals. Kevin Helpin and Cheryl Van Duzen directed and music directed the charm right outta the beautiful score and script of Roger’s and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! They allowed me, this curless Curly, a part in telling this classic, golden-age, American musical love story–An experience I won’t soon forget.Continue Reading

Reviews – Oklahoma!

This production [of Oklahoma!] had some very strong musical talent that was highlighted by the two lead characters. “Laurey” played by Catherine Skojec and “Curly” played by Taylor Eliason were outstanding. Not only are they musically gifted, but their acting skills created the necessary chemistry to tell a love story like this.”

Taylor Eliason and Catherine Skojec lead the way as Curly and Laurey… Eliason brings a joy to Curly that has you rooting for him as soon as his melodious voice sounds from the back of the theater. They have a great chemistry, which weaves tension into every tease and kiss. “People Will Say We’re in Love” is truly a sigh-able moment.”

Taylor Eliason is a warm and sympathetic Curly even when he’s attempting to convince Jud to commit suicide.”

Begin the Beguine

Never thought I would work on a cruise ship in my entire life and I gotta say, it’s the BEST way to see the world. Your hotel ALSO transports you while you sleep. It’s amazing! I made a TON of friends on this contract and was lucky enough to do it opposite an old and dear friend, the beautiful Angela Jeffries.

Closing Night

Legally Blonde, directed by Phil Shelburne, was a coming home for me. I’m from Vegas, so it was a lot of fun to play to my friends. Playing opposite Alison Thompson every night was a real blast. She was so spunky and so fun to work off of. We became quick friends. This role was familiar because I’m a bit like Emmett. I just can’t be bothered with trends or fashion. Hand me downs will do just fine.

Side Show posed a unique struggle in a couple different ways. It was the first show in the small, old Echo Theater with this big of a cast. It was also the first show produced by the newly-formed Utah Rep headed by Johny Hebda. Many responsibilities fell to the cast, so I had the chance to actually choreograph Buddy’s tap number “One Plue One Equals Three.” No promises on it being any good but I had fun doing it!

Almost Maine was the first officially published play I’d ever been a part of. The play was simplified due to time constraints. It was fun to work on the fast paced comedic scenes opposite Laura Masterson Taylor.

South Pacific was a challenging piece because of how heavy the material is. The costumes were gorgeous, the cast was warm and Lt. Cable’s message in “You Have to Be Carefully Taught” felt very timely.

2012 • Man • A Shared Life • Echo Theater • Provo, UT

Cast and Director:writerFrom newlyweds to widower, A Shared Life, written and directed by Chase Ramsey, follows the ups and downs of a marriage amidst work, family and even enduring the loss of a child. Sharing the stage with the beautiful and giving Cherielyn Julander was so natural and easy. What an honor it was to play a part in the workshop and premiere performance of such a wonderful piece.

2012 • Secondary Characters • Cabaret • Boulder City, NV

My hysterical friend Stephanie Bare and I put together a cabaret show of some of our favorite songs, enlisted the help of a VERY talented accompanist; the one and only David Skouson, and put on 2 well attended shows in Boulder City, NV just outside Las Vegas. We had a great time.

248884_10150271414751422_837197_nLive at the Loft was a cabaret show I created and operated while attending school at Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. I knew a lot of very talented people so I put together shows to showcase their talent. I booked a venue, scheduled performers, hired musicians and made it happen. It was a nice outlet in a place without many.
